In what has become a norm over the past few weeks for Trinidad & Tobago cricketers, another major announcement was made via former West Indies Players Association President, Dinanath Rmanarine’s twitter account. On Friday the announcement was for Dwayne Bravo’s retirement from Test Cricket.
In what appeared to be a statement from Bravo, the following text was posted as an e-mail screen shot by Ramnarine.
“Today I am annoucing my retirement from Test cricket, I have already informed the WICB of this decision and also indicated my desire to continue to represent West Indies in the shorter version of the game.
Over the years, with the greatest enthusiasm, I have done my best with the deep awareness that I am ultimately representing the people of the West Indies
I recognize that this is a difficult time for all of us. Our people of the region have seen and enjoyed great cricketing days but we will not return to glory until we agree to go forward with our love for the game and the respect for the administrators, players and the public.
I have experienced the exhilarating joy of victory and the devastating pain of defeat. The joyous memories will remind me of what we are capable of achieving. I want to be part of that mission. I think the cricketing fraternity for their support and look forward to serving you with determination and the pride of being a West Indian.
Dwayne Bravo
Kind Regards.â€

If this is true then I don't really fault him. The man has been all up on Line and Length and other cricket shows showing his interest and saying how much he wants to play Test cricket but has not been chosen for years..although I think he did play against Bangladesh last time..but that was a once in a long time thing. And based on how the board treating him now I doubt he's gonna be chosen for the ODI team outside of T20 for a very long time. It's sad but that's the reality
The only thing I'm worried about is that with this decision it doesn't look like he'll be playing for the Red Force in the regional 4 Day. I hope he still does..4 Day is not Test Cricket so one can hope. Still..all the best Bravo

It is good that he wanted to concentrate more on the shorter version, but WI cricket is already in a mess.He could have stayed a bit longer and mentored the youngsters.Just a thought.

How could he have mentored them if he was not being picked for the Test team? You're acting like the man retire from cricket..he have a contract with WICB..so will still be around those youngsters...unless you're suggesting that non of our young players that play ODIs will ever play Tests....he was never getting picked for Tests by them despite publicly showing his interest..and with the heat on him recently doubt that was ever going to change.
It's sad but at least he can focus now on what the board allows him to play..which was only the shorter format

West Indies
had pulled out
from their tour of India last year under Bravo's leadership
over a payment dispute with their board and players association.
Bravo was picked for the T20 internationals against South Africa and was also given a
central contract by the board.

Bravo will go down in the annals of Windian history as the Captain who stood up to the WICB and forced change to Industrial relations...
