Mappy:
* On day 3 Shiv scored 34 runs in 49 balls. That's a STRIKE RATE of 69.
* Given that 69 strike rate, Shiv would have needed only 21 balls to score the 15 runs for his 30th test hundred
.
* So no need for the sarcasm Mappy about Shiv needing the rest of the day to make that 15 runs.

It is all history now but Shiv responded to the team plan on Day 3 but if he did not have an hour he would have dragged it on.
At a SR of 69 and the way he was batting (had to bat) he could have been out equally.
The fact remains at the end of Day 2 if he had averaged closer to 45, as you woud at least expect against a poor Bangladesh, he would have either had or been very close to his ton.
Whilst I am saddened Shiv did not get his 30th ton, he has no one but himself to blame as he was afforded adequate time.
His SR of 29, which was poor even if you compare what Brathwaite did, was the reason and not anyone else. No amount of personal attacks can detract from that fact.
If he was afforded any more time to get his 100, Windies may not have had the Banglas out at the end of Day 3 and who know they might have compiled a 150 lead to get on day 5!
The most important thing here is the team won.

yes well..ease is the right word when it comes to shive. he is not Lloyd! yuh know quietly and without fuss. yuh look up and suddenly shive is 100 and you wonder when he scored it so easy it was.
dat is wat was supposed to happen. the man becalmed...stoic in not a crisis, obdurate when beating ball was required..400 on the tins and he still stone-walling...
when wud he have let loose..when 800 on the tins ::confused::
shades of Bradman..who never let himself loose until his last test or some such ridiculous thing
:'( :'( :'(

Look here Maps. Look at the facts! here they are...
1. Before the game, Shiv talked about mentoring the youngsters.
2. While batting with Paint, he was guiding the youngster thru...just ask Paint.
3. This WI team is known to collapse from a good position...they have done so many times before! Regardless its Bangla, Shiv made sure there there was no collapse while guiding the youngster on.
4. On the 3rd day when the team needed fast runs, he increased his temp to a strike rate of 69 (as Rev pointed out).
5. Shiv was not unhappy about the declaration. He walked off with no indication of being upset.
Bottomline, the man played for the team and kept his promise about guiding the youngsters.
Whats the problem, then?
