What exactly are they investing?
Sad to say, but I suspect if there were a couple of Guyanese lads benefiting, this conversation would not be taking place.
The ECB is able to pay its contracted players £700,000 to have an England first policy. These lads have the opportunity to also have endorsements so the ECB contracted players earn well above £1m per annum without the IPL and other T20 tournaments. This is a different situation.
All players ply their trade and as contracted players if they play abroad their Boards, including the WICB, get compensated.
Bravo, Russell, Pollard and Sammy are not test players so there may not be any obligation for them to play in the Domestic 4 day competition which starts November 14th. Ram Jam starts Nov 2 and by the time they are finished in SA, finals Dec 12th, the first class season in the Windies will be suspended for 2 months anyway. Not sure if the 50 overs competition then kicks in so these players can play leading up to the World Cup which commences Feb 14th.
Players make themselves available for International duties and if the selectors select them they play.
I genuinely do not see what all the fuss is all about. If these players were vying for Test spots then I could understand them having to play in the domestic FC competition as is the case with Gayle.
Lets us remember Windian internationals missing part of the season is not new as, in the past, county payers did miss some FC games.
During the Ram Jam Jamaica play 4, T&T 2 games etc.

The T&T Cricket Board (T&TCB) has condemned, in the strongest possible manner, the recent actions of the West Indian cricketers who aborted their cricket tour of India.
The severe censure came on Saturday when the T&TCB held their 58th annual general meeting which was well-attended with close to 40 delegates participating at the Alloy Lequay Administrative Centre at Balmain, Couva.
The motion was moved by national senior team manager Manohar Ramsaran, a nominated member of the national executive, and seconded by Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) representative Surujdath Mahabir

Mapoui , has it ever occured to you that TEST players had no say in this T20 issue ?
You folks are so blinded by Trini insularity :
that you cannot separate the various FORMATS of Cricket affected
Lemme reiterate : T20 players called a wildcat striked where most important TEST players had NO say in the matter..
For a so called Labour relations man , you CONDONE this act ??
Samuels though in the TEST squad is a non union employee of the Board and the T20 players are Lying about his involvement.
Samuels ., unlike you is vociferours in " clearing the air".
You and Mail meanwhile is loving up each odda ::LOL::

"The West Indies cricketers, led by One-Day International captain Dwayne Bravo, who is a Trinidadian,
shocked the international cricket world when they decided to pull out of the India tour after the fourth ODI in Dharamsala two Fridays ago.

I just cannot understand how Ramdin agrred to that pull out ...
I pegged him as more Intelligent than Pollard and Bravo.
PLUS he had to be aware that TEST players were NOT part of the decision of the mercenary T20 Cabal >
after all he is the Captain of this FORMAT...
