Chris Gayle opts out of CPL 2022, turns focus to 6ixty
I am going for the shorter format this year," Gayle said in a media statement. "I am genuinely excited about the current innovations in the 6ixty and seeing how they play out. In particular I am looking forward to the mystery team ball and hitting two sixes in the first 12 balls to unlock a third powerplay over." Chris Gayle has opted out of the fo

25 years since the passing of former President and Founder-Leader of the People’s Progressive Party, Dr Cheddi Jagan.
MARCH 6 marks 25 years since the passing of former President and Founder-Leader of the People’s Progressive Party, Dr Cheddi Jagan. He died at the Walter Reed Medical Centre in Washington DC on the morning of March 6, 1997, three weeks after he suffered a heart attack. Very proud of Guyana and her esteemed young President
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I am so heart-bustlingly proud of the Government of the Republic of Guyana and of her esteemed President, Mohamed Irfaan Ali, who over the past few days, has shown the entire world that he is made of very fine annealed steel. If a picture paints a thousand words, the photographs from the Energy Conference ha

Janet Jagan Oilfields off Guyana's Atlantic Coast.
I have read of Nations, especially in the Third World, being raped ....... that is, of their Natural Resources. This is well known today. But, I have never read of Nations being raped when " development projects " were being contemplated and executed. The exception is Guyana today. The recent discovery of huge Deposits in the Janet Jagan Oilfields
Shuman does not understand the doctrine of the separation of powers
I was horrified by what I heard from a sitting Member of Parliament, in reference to his fellow opposition Members of Parliament, some of whom are former government ministers.  This, not-so-subtle reference to opposition MPs and former government ministers was, for some reason missed by the Speaker.  That there was no rebuke, from the Spe

Guyana Diaspora Forum

We have a large database of Guyanese worldwide.  Most of our readers are in the USA, Canada, and the UK.  Our Blog and Newsletter  would not only carry  articles and videos on Guyana, but also other articles on a wide range of subjects that may be of interest to our readers in over 200 countries, many of them non-Guyanese  We hope that you like our selections.

It is estimated that over one million Guyanese, when counting their dependents, live outside of Guyana.  This exceeds the population of Guyana, which is now about 750,000.  Many left early in the 50’s and 60’s while others went with the next wave in the 70’s and 80’s.  The latest wave left over the last 20 years. This outflow of Guyanese, therefore, covers some three generations. This outflow still continues today, where over 80 % of U.G. graduates now leave after graduating.  We hope this changes, and soon.

Guyanese, like most others, try to keep their culture and pass it on to their children and grandchildren.  The problem has been that many Guyanese have not looked back, or if they did it was only fleetingly.  This means that the younger generations and those who left at an early age know very little about Guyana since many have not visited the country.  Also, if they do get information about Guyana, it is usually negative and thus the cycle of non-interest is cultivated.

This Guyana Diaspora Online Forum , along with its monthly newsletter, aims at bringing Guyanese together to support positive news, increase travel and tourism in Guyana and, in general, foster the birth of a new Guyana, which has already begun notwithstanding the negative news that grabs the headlines.  As the editor and manager of the publication, I am committed to delivering Blog entries and Newsletters that are politically balanced, and focused on the positive ideas we wish to share and foster among Guyanese.

YareliFormer Guyana and West Indies all-rounder Narsingh Deonarine turned in a Player-of-the-Match performance to lead West Indies to victory over Australia on the opening day of the Over-40s Cricket Global Cup 2023 in Karachi, Pakistan.

West Indies emerged with an 84-run victory on Tuesday, joining hosts Pakistan, Canada and Hong Kong as winners on the first day of the 45-over tournament.

Batting first, West Indies posted 267-7 from the full allotment of overs and then dismissed Australia for 183 from 35 overs.
