Are we seeing a relatively new approach to ODIs ?
Play singles and twos: keep wickets in hand :
Then LAUNCH balls onto the roof , break Car windows , million dollar Catch 30 rows back :
and so on and so forth ??

Exactly. The ploy is simple.Take the Batting power PP by 36th over,go into attacking mode. The the last 10 overs they can hit it knowing that they have backup to come.
India has been employing this wisely to baffle oppositions. In fact every other team too has.

Anantha Narayanan
wrote a great article earlier in the World Cup detailing the dramatic shift towards batting in ODI cricket. Through the first 35 games of the World Cup, teams doubled their scores after 33.2 overs. Scoring rates have increased to 5.68 RPO, up from 4.75 from World Cups 1975-2007 and the average first innings total was 286, up from 244 from the last World Cup.

I don't think so it is just that this world cup was made for the batsmen and that is why we have seen so many 300+ runs totals. Even teams that would struggle to get to a score of 280+ have scored 300+ runs with ease this world cup.

Although the game has now shifted in favour of the batsman, the most exciting game this World Cup for me was Australia/New Zealand, a low scoring affair. The trouble with a team batting first and putting up 350+ is that it makes the games less competitive and therefore less exciting.

Lets say games were Halted due to whatever :sudden rain, sudden hailstorm et cetera in the 33rd ~ 35 th over :
what would happen ?
Teams like India and Oz would be caught with Pants down ? :-\

OR : ICC instead of thinking reducing to 40 Overs :
ASK Mr.Duckworth and Mr. Lewis to factor into their Equation :
last 15 overs is > previous 35 ? :-\

So far it seems to me as if it's a bit of a cross between Test Match and T/20 ... keep wickets in hand a la test match and then let loose a la T/20
