Ban bouncers?
I am 60, still playing senior cricket and bat without a helmet (they didn't have them when I learnt). I would (still) much prefer to face short pitched bowling than good length. It may be no coincidence that the only natural back foot players at my club are all over 45 and learnt before helmets. I prefer an arm guard to a helmet.

Why Ban them, Bouncers have been apart of cricket for decades, I think a standardized method safety manufacturing protocol should be written up, and more pressure should be placed on manufacturers for better safety equipment should be at the fore front of everyone's agenda

Banning Bouncers is no solution. 2 days back an umpire in Israel died . So ban Umpires? A pakistan cricket in 5-60 (don`t remember name & dates exactly) died while playing a front foot defensive shot to a spinner. That ball spun & bounce & hit his chest & he died of cardiac arrest. So ban spinners?

Ramesh,
your comments are in very poor taste!
A young man has died in tragic circumstances leaving grieving family and friends and you choose to bring in ethnicity?
I am very disappointed with that Ramesh as i did not expect that, even from you!
This Board is discussing banning bouncers and not the ICC!

You all remembered when the English whined to the ICC about West Indian bowling too many bouncers?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bouncer_%28cricket%29
Well, the ICC had to no balls to mandate an improvement in protective gears. Instead they limited the bouncers! Of course, most people knew that was wrong decision and now we see a sad result of that decision.
Lets face facts, the Ozzies were bolwing just as many bouncers as WI bowlers. However, if the English had complained about them, they would have been seen as pussies!!
THANKS ICC!!! >

Guys my issue here is the lack of objectivity.
You may recall the first real major change in bowling tacticks occured after the Bodyline series of 1932-33 Ashes tour!
It was always understood that intimidatory bowling is unacceptable, especially at tailenders of teh apst anyway!
