* Current member of the 12,000+ club in tests are: Tendulkar, Ponting, Kallis and Dravid.
* Jayawardene(11,814) just retired.
* Sangakkara(11,988) is 12 runs away but his next test will not be until November 2014.
* Shiv(11,414) has 2 upcoming tests against Bangladesh and 3 tests against India in October.
* So the race is between Shiv who needs 586 runs and Sangakkara who needs 12 runs.
* Given the way 40 year old Shiv has been batting recently----playing with his pads more than his bat----getting out LBW to spinners not playing a shot----it looks like Shiv may reach 12,000 sometime in the next millennium.
* SANGAKKARA WILL BE THE NEXT MEMBER OF THE ILLUSTRIOUS 12K CLUB.

To me..chanders will reach there first..
He has 2 tests against Banglas and assuming he hits a century in one of them and average scores in the 3 innings,his runs will plummet to a 250 at max and he has always been a big nemesis for India and he will hit a century in at least one of those tests.
In 3 tests he can easily cross the 350 mark..
Now thats what you call day dreaming...Sanga will reach there first..

It's going to be Shiv and Sangy for sure. Both are left-handed players with class. There are not a lot of players in the club, so it good to see another one of them nearing the feat.

Looking forward to Sangakkara's 12,000. He has come a long way as a batsmen, a wicketkeeper and a captain. It will be a well deserved achievement. It should be noted that Sangakarra was the fasted to have reached all these milestones - 8,000, 9,000 and 11,000.

Have the two Test matches against England been confirmed/announced? I checked for any information pertaining to these two Tests but couldn't find anything official other than five ODIs and two T20s.
