Sanga will be the next one that reaches 12k but i really hope Shiv manages to reach there as well. He has been consistent but i fear his time could be up any time. He is at the age where any loss of form will mean that his career is over. Anyhow...both players will go down as greats irrespective of who reaches 12 k first.

I was digging around looking for more information on Sri Lanka's upcoming Test series and everything that I have found seems to indicate that their next Test series will be two Tests against New Zealand in December 2014/January 2015.

* You are absolutely correct!
* In the last 12 months Sangakkara has scored 1502 runs in 11 tests---that's 136.5 runs per test
* In the last 12 months Chanderpaul has scored 584 runs in 7 tests---that's 73 runs per test.
stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/i...results;type=batting
* We know Sangakkara's next test is in November---he'll likely score the 12 runs he needs for 12,000 in his first 20 balls.
* Chanderpaul will likely play 5 tests between now and November---2 vs Bang and 3 vs India.
* Scoring at an average of 73 runs per test---Shiv will likely score 365 runs in the 5 tests----and that would bring his overall tally to 11,779 runs----still 221 runs short of 12,000 by November
.
BOTTOM LINE:
* Sangakkara will be the 5th batsman in test history to reach 12,000 runs.
* Tendulkar got to 12,000 in his 152nd test; Ponting got to 12,000 in his 146th test; Kallis got to 12,000 in his 147th test; Dravid got to 12,000 in his 148th test; Sangakkara will get to 12,000 in his 129th test; Chanderpaul will likely get to 12,000 in his 164th test.

* There are many HATERS in the West Indies hoping and praying Shiv never gets to 12,000. Any on this forum ?

CORRECTION:
* Sangakkara will be playing his next test versus New Zealand in Dec---Dec 26th to 30.
* Sri Lanka will not be playing any tests vs England in November---they'll play 7 onedayers.
* But Sangakkara will still reach 12,000 in his 129th test.

PROJECTING CHANDERPAUL'S RUNS FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2014
* He'll likely be playing 7 tests---2 vs Bangladesh, 3 vs India and 2 vs South Africa.
* HATERS WILL BE PRAYING FOR HIM TO BE INJURED.
* Anyway at an average of 73 runs per tests Shiv will score 511 runs in his next 7 tests----and that will bring his tally to 11,925 runs(11,414 + 511).
BOTTOM LINE:
* Sangakkara will reach 12,000 before Shiv.
* But if Shiv stops chooking around with his friggin pads he may very well edge out Sanga
* But the probability favors Sanga getting to 12,000 before Shiv.
