Well done to the great man ending on a high note and might have set up a South African win.
Declare at tea 160 ahead maybe a result for RSA.
In the process the great man had overtaken Dravid into the third highest run scorer in Test match history.
Shame he got out when he did as he might have overtaken Ponting.
Great career dankie vir die herinneringe.

Mappy:
* THE NUMBERS DON'T LIE.
* Kallis was a more productive bowler than Sobers.
* Check the stats:
BALLS BOWLED: Even though Sobers played in 69 less tests than Kallis----he bowled 21,599 balls vs 20.232 for Kallis
WICKETS TAKEN: Kallis took 292 wickets vs Sobers 235----remember Kallis bowled less balls.
BOWLING AVERAGE: Kallis 32.65; Sobers 34.03
STRIKE RATE: Kallis took a wicket every 69 balls; Sobers took a wicket every 92 balls
BOTTOM LINE:
Kallis was a more productive bowler than Sobers
the numbers don't lie.

Yea and Sobers also took a lot of wickets against Bangladesh Zimbabwe and a weak Sri lankan team
Throw in the Westindian team there for good measure as well.
In this case the numbers don't only lie, it does so blatantly and barefacedly.

and again the key to the bowling part of the issue may be this...I don't remember once Kallis taking the ball and winning a game for RSA.
correct me if I am wrong

* No one with a functioning brain would say Kallis is a greater cricketer or allrounder than Sobers.
* But statistically---Kallis put up better numbers than Sobers in bowling.

Jacques Kallis? Lol.. Kallis is a very fine all-rounder for his era, don't compare dwarfs with giants. And given Sobers' stature, I cannot think of more than 4 or 5 players through the game's history who can stand up and even dare look him in the eye. Jacques Kallis..ROFLMAO! Thanks for the laugh, folks. You are clearly clueless about the game.
