HERE IS A SLEEPING TIGER
* Detractors like Ramesh better hope and pray the TIGER doesn't wake up from his slumber. ;D He'll be hungry for runs.

*
Deep in his heart, Trini Mapoui does not want Muddie Shiv to surpass his compatriot Trini Lara's 11,953.
![:D :D](/media/kunena/emoticons/laughing.png)
;D
* In Ramesh's case---Ramo can't stand the thought of an East Indian(Shiv) holding the record for most test runs by a West Indian.
* Now, let's do some simple arithmetic.
* Shiv has to play 1 more innings versus SA---he'll likely fail----Shiv looks like he is afraid to score runs in South Africa. Then Shiv will play 3 tests(6 innings) versus England---and let's assume Shiv will be allowed to play the 2 tests(4 innings) versus Australia in the Caribbean later this year---so theoretically Shiv has 11 more innings to play.
* Shiv(11725) needs 229 runs to surpass Lara(11953).
* 229/11 = 20.8
* So Shiv will have to score 21 runs per innings to surpass Lara(11953).
* Now, if Shiv ends up at 11954 after those 11 innings what will his test average be---assuming no not outs ?
ANSWER:
* Shiv's test average will be 11954/235 = 50.86 ;D
QUESTION:
* Can Shiv score an average of 21 runs per innings in his next 11 innings ? That will make him the highest scorer in WI test history plus he will maintain a 50+ test average ?
* In the current series vs SA Shiv is averaging 10.25---so 21 might be steep.

* Shiv's long an illustrious test career will come to an end after his 164th test versus England or after his 166th test versus Australia.
CHECK THE NUMBER OS TESTS PLAYED BY THESE PLAYERS:
168---SWaugh
168---Ponting
166---Kallis
164---Dravid
* Shiv will end up with either 164 or 166 tests.

Congrats to Kumar Sangakkara on becoming the 5th batsman in history to score 12K test runs

* In the meantime Shiv Chanderpaul(11,725) is shytting his pants over in South Africa, getting out to nothing deliveries bowled by 3rd rate spinners
Shiv's last 4 scores have been 21, 4, 7, 9----and he is expected to fail in his final innings in SA.
* Once again congrats to Sangakkara on reaching 12K test runs.

That is my take also. Shiv needs to go out there and play to score and rotate. Forget about the record and he will get it done.

Cricket is an intriguing game that has humbled the greatest of the greats
.
* Don Bradman was dismissed for a duck in his final test innings----that duck denied him a 100 test average----he ended up with a 99.94 average
* Sobers averaged only 23 in 12 tests against lowly New Zealand
RE: THE VERY GOOD SHIV
* In 7 tests in 2014 Shiv scored 497 runs at an average of 71.00 with 1 hundred and 3 fifties
*
Shiv has obviously been humbled by his string of low scores in South Africa(21, 4, 7, 9)
* It remains to be seen if Shiv(11,725 runs @52.34 avg) could regain his confidence and score 275 more runs in tests----that's what he needs to reach 12K
*
Mapoui is highly confident Shiv will reach 12K.

This makes a lot of sense. Remember how Tendulkar struggled to get his 100th hundred. But he did it in the end, so have a bit of faith and maybe Shiv will achieve his record too.
