* As an ardent Shiv supporter I would love to see him reach 12,000 runs in tests at an average of 50+
* Right now Shiv seems to have a problem with his balance.
* Hopefully by the time England tours the WI Shiv regains his balance.

correct....Shiv has been plagued with the mental balance problem throughout his career. the more he tries to protest his wicket, the lower his score...and usually gets out like a dunce!
I hope someone sends him the information that even if he gets zerooosss, he will still be above 50 avg. So be aggressive!!

* Shiv(11,725) needs 275 runs to reach 12,000 in tests.
* These are Shiv's last 4 test scores: 21, 4, 7, 9 = 41 runs = 10.25 average
* ONLY DIVINE INTERVENTION CAN PUSH SHIV PAST 12K

* Only Lord Shiva can save the Tiger right now.
* Shiv's last 2 dismissals clearly indicate that his balance is waaaaay off.
* I expect him to fail again in the 2nd innings of the current test.
* Hopefully by the time England tours the WI in Feb-March Shiv regains his balance.
BOTTOM LINE:
* Shiv's long and illustrious career is coming to an end.
* Tendulkar, Ponting, Dravid and Kallis were all ordinary in their last 10 test innings
Shiv will also be ordinary.
* 21, 4, 7, 9
* Expect Shiv's next 6 innings to resemble those 4 above.
* He'll still average 50----but he will likely not reach 12K if his balance problems persist.

* Shiv has been a fighter his whole career.
* He has overcome adversity before.
* Yes! He has stumbled in the current series against South Africa(21, 4, 7, 9, 0).
* If he stops poking and prodding and play normal cricket he probably get to 12,000
* MIRACLES DO OCCUR. ;D

* By the way, I notice the Shiv haters over at CC are overjoyed by Shiv's stumble(21, 4, 7, 9)
* Lara 11,953
* Shiv 11,725
* The Shiv detractors and haters are hoping and praying he never overtakes 11,953
* Shiv needs 229 more runs.
* HOPE SHIV SILENCES THEM.

I think Shiv has been tarnished within certain forums by the way he has been portrayed as being selfish, particular about not outs without reference to team objectives, etc, etc!
I think Googs was spot on in his assessment apropos Shiv over protection of his wicket, and I will add his paranoia of getting out, has made him get out like a dunce.
Shivster's poor run of form has extended beyond this series but for me it is the manner in which he is getting out.
I do not think Shiv is finished but he has to be more positive, especially rotating the strike which a man of his experience should be able to do readily.
My other concern for Shiv is that he holds on for dear life and get dropped, instead of stepping down gracefully!
I do not care about these silly statistics, what I hope for Shiv is for him to contribute to good team performances and be a key player in seeing his team win a few games before he retires! He will be remembered more for this!
We are used to high standards from Shiv so a downturn is always alarming. I wish him the best for the second innings in winning this test for the Windies.
Whatever happens Shiv has been a notable servant for the Windies and I would expect the region to honour him as is deserved!

* Somebody needs to remind Shiv that even if he scores 10 ducks in his next 10 test innings his average will still be above 50----11,725/234 = 50.10
* Shiv's negativity at the wicket is hurting his runs production---today he scored 9 runs off 48 balls, a strike rate of 18.75
BOTTOM LINE:
* Shiv is close to the end of a long and illustrious career.
* Earlier in this thread I presented stats showing greats like Ponting, Dravid, Kallis and Tendulkar struggling in their last 10 tests.
* Shiv's struggles have begun----he has completely failed in the 3 tests against SA.
* And I don't expect much from him against England.
* Shiv needs 229 runs to become the highest test scorer in WI history
given his negative approach at the wicket in the current series I'd be pleasantly surprised if he gets those 229 runs----he'll play 3 tests versus England if fit----not sure he'll play against Australia if he keeps failing.
