Shiv Chanderpaul is a proud man and a true professional and he knows that he did not live up to his usually high standards. And so he is correct in indicating that he is looking forward to returning to Derbyshire and playing a crucial role in helping the club get back to Division 1.

Having said that, Shiv must now turn his focus on test cricket, and in the 5 tests he will be playing against India and New Zealand, Shiv's goal should be to score at least 2 hundreds.

Shiv only scored one hundred in 15 matches for Derbyshire----so he is clearly overdue for a couple of 3 figure scores.

The logic of most posters here is that Chanderpaul should go on and on like Tendulkar .
Some are saying that he is  rated # 2 in the world and there fore he should stay on .
By this logic Sobers with an average of 58 should have also have played  longer , he was rated in the top ten when he walked away.
