OK Folks! The last 60 years in West Indies have been dominated by 4 batting greats: Sobers, Richards, Lara, and Chanderpaul. The Sobers era lasted from 1954 to 1974; the Richards era lasted from 1975 to 1991; the Lara era lasted from 1992 to 2006; and the Chanderpaul is fairly new---it begun in January 2007, after Lara retired, and it is now in it's 7th year.

HERE ARE THE AVERAGES OF THE WI GREATS FROM THE DIFFERENT ERAS:

57.78----Sobers(93 tests)---1954-1974

50.23----Richards(121 tests)---1974-1991

52.88----Lara(131 tests)---1991-2006

69.82----Chanderpaul(he has played in 46 tests since Jan 2007).

The Shiv Chanderpaul era has just started----he needs to play and dominate WI batting another 5 years.

But there you have it----WI cricket broken up into 4 eras the past 60 years----with the batting greats in those eras being Sobers, Richards, Lara and Chanderpaul.

TBH, You have put me off Shiv with your crap.

Shiv is not a game changer.

I would not say he bats for himself but he does not take the context of the game in his game plan.

Shiv has been a destructive batsman but he will never be great.

Statistically his numbers are up there but, really, how many times did his efforts lead to a win?

I am mindful Shiv has been part of a losing team in the latter part of his career when all around him was falling but others, like Lara, has made more of a difference.

You are entitled to your opinion and the Rev is entitled to his.

I am sure Shiv's detractors like you can present dozens of reasons why Shiv is not a great---but supporters of Shiv like the Rev can also present dozens of reasons why Shiv is a great.

Go and visit the shivisgreat.com website.

By the way Mail Man, did you know that for batsmen who have scored a minimum of 2000 runs at the different batting positions----Shiv has the 3rd highest average at the #5 batting position----and the highest average at the #6 batting position ? Go check it out.

ANOTHER TIDBIT:

Did you know that for West Indian batsmen who have scored 2000 runs in the different batting positions----Shiv has the highest average at 2 batting positions---#5 and #6 ?

Listen!

Shiv may not be great in your narrow mind---but in the beautiful mind of the Rev---Shiv is a great batsman.

For most West Indians only Lara, Viv, Sobers and 3Ws can great batsmen---these losers are entitled to their prejudice against Shiv being a great batsman.

For enlightened Shiv supporters like you Chairman Krishna---Shiv has earned the distinction of being regarded as a great batsman.

THE NUMBERS DON'T LIE.
