Red Force slide to bottom of Regional 4-Day standings
ST JOHN’S, Antigua, (CMC) – Trinidad and Tobago Red Force have slumped to the bottom of the Regional Four-Day Championship standings, after suffering their third straight defeat on Sunday.
In the latest points standings, Red Force were languishing on 80 points, with just two wins in nine matches, in what has been another difficult season.
Their innings and 38-run defeat to Windward Islands Volcanoes at the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada, was their fourth of the campaign and saw them slip from fourth after earning only 3.2 points from the encounter.
Red Force, who have failed to compete since the emergence of the new Professional Cricket League four years ago, went down by 207 runs to Barbados Pride in the seventh round and lost by one wicket to Leeward Islands Hurricanes in the following round.
The Denesh Ramdin-led side have not won since they beat Hurricanes by an innings at Warner Park.
Ramdin has been the bright spark for the side this season, already with over 700 runs and three hundreds.
Jamaica Scorpions, meanwhile, have taken aim at second place in the already-decided championship, following their comprehensive 57-run victory over Hurricanes in Kingston on Sunday.
They have 91 points and are only 3.6 points behind the second-placed Pride who drew with newly-minted champions Guyana Jaguars in their contest at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.
Scorpions and Pride will clash at the Oval in the last round of the competition starting Thursday, a fixture that will decide second place.
Hurricanes, who face Volcanoes in the final round, lie fourth on 85.2 points while Volcanoes are fifth on 80.4 points.
Jaguars, still unbeaten this season, sit on top the standings on 145.2 points, having wrapped up their fourth straight title following their eighth round win over Scorpions in Kingston.
They take on Red Force in Georgetown in their final fixture.

Guyanese, like most others, try to keep their culture and pass it on to their children and grandchildren. The problem has been that many Guyanese have not looked back, or if they did it was only fleetingly. This means that the younger generations and those who left at an early age know very little about Guyana since many have not visited the country. Also, if they do get information about Guyana, it is usually negative and thus the cycle of non-interest is cultivated.
