Now there are few in the English county games to choose from.

"There is a whole generation of us, and perhaps two generations who have been formed by [cricket]
not only in social attitudes but in our most intimate personal lives, in fact more than anywhere else.
The social attitudes we could to some degree alter if we wished.
For the inner self the die was cast."

CLR James Beyond a Boundary, 1963

In 1972 Gibbs, Kanhai, Kallicharran and Deryck Murray helped Warwickshire land the pennant.
Today a photo hangs in the Edgbaston members' office of the 1993 squad:
four Anglo-Caribbeans catch the eye
- Michael Bell, Matthew Robinson, Keith Piper and Gladstone Small.
He may be the nicest man ever to bowl fast for a living but, when England last won the Ashes
Small was the urn-clincher

I know he plays for County
so, imo...he has better experience than the locals playing on dead pitches

an' deh shud look at west indies pitches in a conspiracy mode. have they deliberately killed west indian pitches to stop the rise of champion fast bowlers.....

that is not a far-fetched construction at all. how did those pitches die..even Kensington oval and Sabina? Incredible !

I recall during playing days in Guyana that there was always
a qualified soils specialist/ geologist mentoring the Groundsmen
being also known as "mudland" the hardened mud would crack
Sand would be brought in to mix a "loam"
that would use a heavy roller to set the foundation: then dry grass and a light roller !!
pace bowlers would then get ball to climb up to your 'chin' ...
and the term "chin music" was coined !

today, Grounds-men dont have these soils specialist supervision!
they just doing what they think should be done !
whom remembers Brian Lara "gesturing" to Charlie the groundsman ?
www.independent.co.uk/sport/cricket/indi...nlikely-6096440.html

20 minutes into the third day but one ironic gesture from the captain Brian Lara as they chased the 269
needed for the victory that would clinch the series indicated their lack of conviction.

Lara had to come in after the opener Chris Gayle was caught off the second ball of the innings
He was unbeaten with eight at lunch when the West Indies were 18 for 1.
Lara turned into the direction of the head groundsman Charlie Joseph
beyond the boundary and clapped on his bat.
Even before a ball was bowled in the match, Lara described the pitch as "under-prepared"
and said he would not want to be batting on it on the fourth and fifth days

LanceKraigg’s time is up. He has never truly moved on as a player. Despite being captain and senior batsmen we will lose nothing with investing in a rookie.

He has given his service as an honest and wholehearted performer and would leave with my heartfelt thanks for his contribution.

“his era” but he wasn’t better than Brian Lara whether it’s numbers wise or just plain batting talent and skill
Lara is on a level nobody else is on.

AdrianDarren Bravo had a remarkable 2020 cricket season, showcasing his skills and talent on the field. His impressive performance was a significant factor in the team's success, and his dedication to the sport is truly admirable.
