Antigua Observer article.
St John's, Antigua - Minister of Sports Paul “Chet†Greene has described the public’s support for the first Test between England and the West Indies at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground (SVRCG) as “hearteningâ€, while crediting a number agencies for ensuring its success.
“Heartened, satisfied, grateful, thankful and I want to commend you, JoJo, and everybody in the media for the role you played in really bringing Antiguans and Barbudans out to this Test match. I want to say thanks for all the support we had from the various government agencies that work in concern to make it happen. It was just a national effort that I think we all should be proud of and have the right to be proud of in the way we collaborated and worked as one,†he said.
Greene, whose ministry headed the successful refurbishing of the SVRCG ahead of the Test, said the experience has served to forge closer bonds between government and some corporate entities.
The second Test between England and the West Indies will be played in Grenada from next Tuesday.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

It seems like a good investment when you factor in the number of english supporters who went plus the free publicity etc

LOL, no.
I don't know how the Antigua govt gets its tourist dollars but say 5,000 english for 7 days at nights at US$200 /night is US$7,000,000 to the hotels. Dunno what that translates into for the government.
Then of course you have what the tourists spend while in Antigua. Most will be at an all inclusive but there will still be some spending.
Then you have the advertising in the UK TV market which they will be getting for free through SKY. Dunno what the dollar value on that is.
