One area England will need to improve upon is at the top of the order. Cook's opening partner has been a revolving door cast over the last two years. Root, Robson, Carberry and Compton have all partnered Cook. The grouping has just 3 centuries between them in 70 innings. Root's averaged 37.66 in 10 innings, Cook 32.82 in 35 innings, Robson 30.54 in 11 innings, Carberry 28.10 in 10 innings and Compton 9.75 in 4 innings.

West Indies have always had batsmen with low averages for international players. I don't think the averages will matter in the matches all that counts will be how the batsmen apply themselves.
