wrong ! it was a day older and some rain on the 22 yards strip. Making the bowlers more crappy.

Overhead conditions were better as well....Pity Brathwaite did NOT read that one ....

146.2
Taijul Islam to Brathwaite, OUT, and Brathwaite's vigil at the crease finally comes to a close as

Brathwaite ends up spooning a catch behind to the slip Mominul as he attempts a

paddle flick which he doesn't quite get a hold off.
  >:(

Quite an uncharacteristic way to go !

TONY COZIER''S CRITICISM OF SHIV'S BATTING ON DAY 2 IN WHICH HE SCORED 51 RUNS FROM 177 BALLS AT A STRIKE RATE OF 29 IS A CONSTRUCTIVE ONE

* Shiv scored 51 runs in 177 balls on day 2----28 Strike Rate

* But Shiv then scored 34 runs in 49 balls on day 3----69 Strike Rate

* Overall Shiv scored 85* in 226 balls----38 Strike Rate

* Shiv's career strike rate is 43, so if he had scored at a 43 strike rate facing 226 balls he would have made 97 runs instead of 85.

* AN INNINGS MUST ALWAYS BE JUDGED IN ITS ENTIRETY NOT BY BITS AND PIECES.

* Shiv's HATERS used his mistaken approach on day 2 to crucify him----they exposed their PREJUDICE.

That's exactly right Rev.

In the context of the match his approach on day 2 was perplexing to say the least, especially given his approach the following day.

But anyhoo, the Wondies won and a win is a win I suppose.

I guess that SR of 58.09 and 183 runs created this situation.

"But Shiv then scored 34 runs in 49 balls on day 3----69 Strike Rate"

Which goes to show that Shiv can pick up the pace. The question then is: why didn't he earlier?

1. He must have been attempting to shepherd Kraigg.
2. He was oblivious to his speed and only accelerated when prompted by Ramdin
3. He knows his cricket and didnt feel it necessary

Regardless, tougher opponents are coming, and WE ARE ALL GONNA BE BEGGING SHIV TO TAKE HIS TIME AND NOT GET OUT in a few months time.

* The way the test match turned out, the answer looks like #3. The Tiger knows his cricket and didn't feel it was necessary to up the scoring rate on a day shortened day 2.
