Bangladesh 146/6. Rahim 22, Hom 16. This time Hom gets two boundaries off Gabriel's over. Gabriel really leaking runs here.

Bangladesh 152/7. Rahim 28, Taijul Islam 0. Ah, lovely shot from Mushfiqur, lifting Benn over cover for 4 runs.

Bangladesh in terrible trouble. Shakib must be close to having his ban further reduced so it ends the day before the Second Test.

It's super retarded from BCB. Banning Shakib would be like banning Andy Flower from the Zimbabwe squad (at the time). There are some decent batsmen like Mominul and Mushfiqur - but Shakib gets them out of trouble everytime and they miss out on his bowling too big time.
Good for you, BCB. Have fun!

Are you suggesting the BCB should ignore indiscipline because he is their best player?
I think they have backtracked on their initial punishment which does not set a good precident, does it?
Of course Bangladesh will be that bit more competative with Shakib but the BCB's rules apply to him as well.

No. I think punishments should be proportionate. I haven't heard of such a retarded and disproportionate punishment in AGES. Okay even if they were to go super harsh on him, just revoke his NOC to play in IPL and CLT20. That should be more than enough. This ban is so bloody stupid.
People have gotten away for worse with even fines. Shit happens. You can't afford the luxury of kicking your star player out as a #10 ranked team.

Boards have their respective standards and it would be inappropriate for us to determine what is an appropriate level of punishment or not.
I would assume his IPL stint would have stung him more financially and a Board has to do what they feel is right for them.
That might be different from what the ECB or the WICB would do but that is their right.
However with any Board, I would assume there would be an appeal process which I am not aware he availed himself of.
