England fast bowler Stuart Broad will have an operation on his right knee later this summer but expects to be fit for the World Cup and Ashes in 2015.
Broad took 6-25 as England dominated the opening day of the fourth Test against India at Old Trafford.
Afterwards, he confirmed he requires surgery to address a long-standing patella tendonitis problem.
"It has got to the stage where it needs to be done," said Broad. "I should be fine for the World Cup."
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Credit where due, excellent bowling by poms. Dhoni got 70ish by flashing hard at everything, and most of it weren't of the middle either.
Now unless someone bowls a magic spell for India - well. The main concern was collapse and they've gotten it out of the way. And they've played good positive cricket too.

Although I couldn't believe this level of collapse - one after the other they collapsed like a deck of cards. Woeful.
And what ever happened to Kohli anyways? The guy's just quality but now he's a walking duck? Law of averages catching up?
Also excellent stuff by Broad, pace and movement, deserved every single wicket.

After the first day's play, I think it is safe to say that India will NOT be winning this match. Dhoni played a good hand and Ashwin showed that he is clearly a better batsman than Jadeja but six ducks in the innings is simply not good enough. The only good point from India's view will be the bowling performance of Varun Aaron who showed the value of extra pace. If he gets his line and length in order, India have a potential match winner on hand.

A rest and recovery period for Stuart broad and James Anderson is a must from Englands point of view. After this series, England go into ODI mode and can afford to rest their main strike bowlers making sure that they are in top form for the world cup. My only worry is that Broad may have pushed himself too far already. I remember reading reports that he was not likely to play out the series or even the ongoing test match for that matter.

England dominated it thoroughly..
Just 39 short and they will wipe it off with ease. They will look to bat long, something like Ageas bowl..
Unless India bundle them out cheap..very cheap..and something under 200 can they even smell a win.
At the moment.England have their noses ahead..

I think India did very well to get Ballance just before teh close and that makes a big difference to our response effort.
I would be looking for a lead of 300 at least but I understand the weather is coming in this morning.
I have hardly even been to an Old Trafford test where it does not rain on morning 1.
Reminds me of Brother MAPPIPPEE's and My QPO.

adeja to Root, 4 runs, more air, slapped hard to mid-off and they set off for a sharp single,
Varun Aaron not completely missed it!
The ball skips out towards long-off and the batsman run hard for an all-run four ::LOL::
