well at the time there were only 3 legit countries playing cricket and Bradman played them and killed them..
Bradman beat up on England and the west indies although west indies took him back a peg or 2
I think he may have played India once..the Saffies once..I am not sure.
but there all were dunces at cricket then. had Bradman played the Kiwi, the Indians and Pak, Lanka.. during his time his stats would be even more awesome today.
I used to run down Bradman because he played mostly england. but it does not wash. england and Oz..and to a lesser extent west indies were the only game in Town at the time

* OK then!
* Bradman retired in 1948.
* So who is the best batsman since 1948 ?
* The elite or extraordinary greats since 1948 have been, Sobers, Richards, Lara and Tendulkar.
* Who is the best ?

hold on, you consider Chris Lewis and that English attack strong??
please! They were weaker than that weak English bowling (aging John Snow, Bob Willis and Tony Greigg) Viv Richards tore up in 1976.

LARA VS SOBERS
* Sobers scored his 365* in his 17th test.
* Lara scored his 375 in his 16th test.
CONCLUSION:
* Lara achieved greatness earlier than Sobers. ;D

the Paks in 1958 were down to 2 Bowlers in that game Googley..2
the english had their full complement.
and dont focus all on the 375. the 400 was off a much better english attack..a full complement again and a better english attack than Sangy facing right now

Well cricket is a game of numbers ... BUT in order to transcend the eras ........ one would still have to split post 1948 into two parts pre and post helmets.
No matter how you twist it, the introduction of helmets had a profound effect on the method of batting as well as the mentality that was crucial to success.
There was a very real fear of batsmen being harmed which has largely been eradicated in the modern age of batsmanship. So one has to take that into consideration to be fair .....

* There has been a preponderance of batsmen who have averaged 50+ since helmets were introduced.
* Also, the rule limiting bouncers have helped batsmen.

In 1991, the ICC introduced a "one bouncer per batsman per over" rule in an attempt to discourage use of intimidation.
The ICC changed it to two bouncers per over in 1994, with a two-run no-ball penalty (rather than one-run no-ball) if the bowler exceeded two bouncers an over.
ICC reverted again to one bouncer per over in 2001 (and a one-run no-ball in case a bowler exceeded the limit).
On October 29, 2012 The International Cricket Council increased the number of bouncers that could be bowled during a One Day International to two.
The number of bouncers per over allowed in T20s was kept to one.

IN that match where Lara scored 400, Sarwan made 90 and Ridley JCup scored a century as well!
Some blistering attack that was!
