What stability did the team need? Most of the instability at that time was engendered by the WICB and Hilaire in particular.

How many times did WIPA take the WICB to arbitration and win. Hilaire was controversial - he is on record as saying that the MOA was unworkable. It took the Prime Minister of St Vincent to mediate between Gayle and the WI board.

As for Sammy, well from his actions it seems that he was getting advice from Hilaire. I recall him being "rested" for a game between the Windwards and Jamaica scheduled for Jamaica. It was obvious to all that he did NOT want to face the abuse that he was going to get at Sabina and the mauling his bowling would have got from Gayle.

Then he was in TT and WIPA sent a car to pick him up for a WI award ceremony - de man went into hiding and did not attend. Someone with balls would have told Ramnarine point blank that they were not going to attend. After the fact Sammy made some flimsy excuse.

And yes a good captain will certainly stand up for players. With Sammy he woulda play even if the WICB gave him an U15 team to lead.

That's what we need from every player on the team for all the games and they'll have nothing to worry about. Talent will shine like that.

Next on the list should be Ottis and that Chief Selector ....but ain't gonna happen ... 'wheels within wheels in WICB' and Pybus probably knows by now whose bread to butter  :-[
