* Today May 2nd is Brian Lara's 46th birthday.

* Lara is the highest runs scorer(11,953) in WI history. It will take a miracle for any West Indian to surpass 11,953.

* Lara also hold the record(400*) for the highest individual score in test cricket.

KEEP THESE SHIV NUMBERS IN MIND ON LARA'S BIRTHDAY

* Shiv(6162) needs 56 runs to surpass Lara(6217) as the highest scorer for the West Indies at HOME.

* Shiv(11842) needs 112 runs to surpass Lara(11953) as the highest test scorer by a WI batsman.

* Shiv(11842) needs 158 runs to become the 6th batsman in history to score 12,000 test runs.

Quote:Anyway, If Shiv were to miraculously go past 11953 in the Barbados test----you will see a more confident Shiv at the wicket

We need Shiv to break Sangakkara or Ponting's test aggregates. Breaking a West Indian's doesn't move us up the list.

* That's asking too much from the old man. Big Grin

* Right now old man Shiv struggling to reach double figures whenever he bats.

* Hope by some MIRACLE Shiv can score at least 112 more runs in his next 3 tests(1 vs England and 2 vs Aus)----his tally would then be 11954----and he can then retire.

1446 runs to pass Dravid.

That would take about 14 more test matches to pass I think.

How many tests do WI play in a year?

* In his last 5 tests Shiv has been averaged 31 runs per test----at that crawling rate it would take Shiv 46 tests(1446/31) to surpass Dravid. Big Grin

* His 50+ test average would then be in the mid 40s.

BOTTOM LINE:

* Shiv must never allow his test average to fall below 50.

* Passing Lara's 11953 would be a nice way for Shiv to end his career.

* If Shiv doesn't pass Lara's 11953 after the Australian series----he should be forced into a Florida retirement home.

SHIV LOOKING NERVOUS IN THE PAVILION

WI 16/2 ----->Shiv up next

SHIV'S GOALS FOR THIS INNINGS:

1. Get off the mark

2. Get out of single digits

3. Get into double figures

4. Reach 20

* That's it for the Old man----any further runs would be a bonus.

Quote:Root to Chanderpaul, OUT, pushed through, spinning away and Chanderpaul goes back, nicks a sharp chance... which Jordan plucks from thin air once again!
S Chanderpaul c Jordan b Root 25 (66b 3x4 0x6) SR: 37.87

* Shiv(11867) @51.59 avg needs 87 runs to retire(11954)

* Shiv will bat one more innings in this test and then he'll have 2 tests against Australia.

* So 87 runs needed from a likely 5 innings.

* By the way, Shiv looked good at the wicket until he played a wishy washy shot at that Root delivery----but he is forgiven----old age----Shiv crawling his way to 11954.

After 1st innings 3rd Test WI vs ENG

1. Shiv(6187) needs 31 runs to surpass Lara(6217) for most runs scored by a West Indian at HOME.

2. Shiv(11867) needs 46 runs to surpass Lara(11912) for most runs scored by a WI batsman playing for the West Indies.

3. Shiv(11867) needs 87 runs to surpass Lara(11953) for most runs scored by a West Indian in tests.

4. Shiv(11867) needs 133 runs to become the 6th batsman in history to score 12,000 test runs.

KEEP AN EYE ON THOSE NUMBERS FOLKS:

* 31, 46, 87, 133

* Shiv has one more innings to play versus England and likely 4 to play versus Australia in June.
