"The data show that there is little connection between terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism, or any one of the world's religions. Rather, what nearly all terrorist attacks have in common is a specific secular and strategic goal: to compel modern democracies to withdraw military forces from territory that the terrorists consider to be their homeland."

[/quote]

That's only the excuse given or perceived for the violence.

In warring African countries, the claim is for civil war. Either way, it's the same excuse. What goal is Africa aiming for? And do you really think that if modern democracies withdrew military forces that their violence would stop? No. Of course not. Because it's just an excuse.

The truth, is that there is no reason. The violence is based on a need for recreation. To occupy oneself from boredom. Thus, the real question is: Why are people bored? And why does violence impart a sense of fulfillment?

To suggest this is to belittle and trivialize the problem.

These men are heavily armed and they fervently believe in such lofty ideals as the killing of every non-Muslim on this planet, the absolute subjugation of women, and the retardation and regression of modernity and scientific progress.  They are dangerous.  Their religion is equally dangerous.  We must not let a shred of their stupid religious beliefs penetrate our secularist ideals, traditions, and institutions.

But that's what they are Snoop. Children. They haven't the faculties of an adult. The fact that they have guns and are wildly wrecking havoc only proves what they are. Children. Do you really think that a pedophile is anything but a child? How can an adult have eyes for a child? It's only when that adult is a child. The adult child struggles to distinguish themselves from actual children. It's important to understand the mindset of people in understanding the wrongful acts they commit.

Quote:Look at a picture of a Palestinian suicide bomber.  They are holding up a gun in one hand and a Koran in the other.

Palestinian suicide bombers do not kill because "the Koran told them to". They kill because Israel was illegally formed in violation of the UN Sec Council and is illegally occupying land in violation of the World Court and UN 242. If I was a third worlder about to kill myself in an attempt to convince a colonialist to get off my land, I would clutch my religious text and hope, naively, that God was looking out for me too.

Regardless, until recently, most US military firearms had Biblical verses on them. Their tanks...

...missiles and Bombs have oft been stenciled with Biblical verses. It doesn't mean the US army fights for Jesus, just that all cultures turn to God for strength when faced with death.

The fact is, the US and to a lesser extent Pakistan, created the Taliban. They created it with the understanding that their promises made to the Taliban wouldnt be met, and with the understanding that they would have to fight them in the future. A moral person would solve the problem morally. The Pakistanis, for about 8 years, did the right thing and just left them alone. The US, of course, solves every problem with killing. And so the Taliban will be killed. Pakistan will pull the trigger for us. The survivers of the massacres will go back into Afghanistan and harrass cities and pipelines, but they will be crushed slowly too.

We know the end result of all of this because we've already seen the same thing play out in Yugoslavia and Algeria, two more "conflicts" that propaganda tried to turn into bogus "religious feuds".

But seriously, this is well known. Jimmy Carter, Kissinger and CIA director Robert Gates openly admitted this. All serious historians have been writing about this for years (I wrote a brief 26 point history of the place on the previous page). Pretty much every terrorist group the big Empires fund, arm or create. The US was fighting alongside Al Queda in Macedonia on the very day of 9/11, for example.
