Shiv has set some modest goals for himself in 2014.

* RUNS: Shiv starts calendar year 2014 on 11,219 test runs. His goal is to score 781 runs. That will take him to 12,000 test runs. He will be the first West Indian in history to score 12,000 test runs.

* HUNDREDS: Shiv's goal in 2014 is to score a minimum of 3 test hundreds. 6 times previously Shiv has scored a minimum of 3 hundreds in a calendar year. Shiv currently has 29 test hundreds. He will become the 11th batsman in history to enter the 30 test hundred club.

* SCORES OVER 50: Shiv plans on scoring a minimum of 6 scores over fifty----he currently has 92 scores over fifty. With 6 scores over fifty in 2014---he'll get to 98-----only 3 batsmen in history have had 100+ scores over fifty---Tendulkar, Kallis and Ponting.

THERE YOU HAVE IT----SHIV'S MODEST GOALS FOR 2014.

England is only an ODI series...of which he is NOT included in 2014 !

Followed by the ICC world cup ...again , Limited overs.

TEST matches are quite a distance away ..

Ketchy:

* Aren't the West Indies playing 3 tests against NZ and 2 tests against Bangladesh at HOME in 2014 ?

* I also believe they will be playing 3 tests against India later this year in India.

I believe that is correct .

India however ,changes scedules at will....

the worst case scenario is NZ and Bangla.

5 tests...potential maximimum of 10 innings !

* In the last 2 test series vs Bang---Shiv scored 354 runs with 2 hundreds.

* And in his recent 3 test series against NZ---Shiv scored 256 runs with 1 100 and 1 50

* So if Shiv repeats his recent performance vs Bang and NZ----354 + 256 = 610 with 3 hundreds

* Not bad---even in 5 tests---Shiv will come close to achieving his 2014 goals.

I believe Shiv can achieve this only if he get good amount of matches. Indeed Shiv is a talented batsman to achieve the given milestones.

Tendulkar gone , Kallis gone .  Pointing gone .
Why is Chanderpaul still hanging on? His record is an excellent one but like Tendulkar , it is being tarnished by staying on too long. Right now Chanderpaul does not give a damn about the Westindies  , he is only playing to pad up his statics and nothing else .
He has had the reputation for selfishness and by him hanging on this long only proves it
He seems obsessed with breaking Lara's record and the status of the Westindies team  whether they win or lose is of no concern to him
