But Skipper why would you say Sammy is the man?
If he leads well and start showing some tactical awareness, does not hide from the bowling, scores run then yes.
The West Indies cannot afford to carry him any longer as there are genuine bowling options waiting in the wings.

None at this stage for me ... we're ranked where ??
Same ole ... WI win and everybody 'jump and wave' then it's back to the same ole thing.... with the same ole institution.
When WI start winning consistently in the top 5 and move up the ranks ... only then will I talk about progress ....

Cali,
'Absobloodylutely'!!!
All this about 5 consecutive victories in a row.
That is fact but it is against Bangladesh, Zim and a weak Kiwi team.
Of course you have to win these games but we seem to have a schedule where the Windies continually play Bangladesh.
I would like to see progress but with Sammy there, the real rebuilding will never take place.
Let us face it, Zim, who have not played International for quite some time, had Windies in real trouble in their first innings.
When you beat these teams you have to do so more convincingly that is happening.
The reality is, Windies are closer to the low standards of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
However I can see some promising players coming through which is good.

So I want
Boquiesse=Arnik=Jala=Ramesh to answer some questions.
What really is the progress?
Have we ever lost against these oppositions pre Sammy given NZ was much stronger a few years ago?
We are playing Bangladesh more often that we have previously. I am subject to correction on this.
Fact is Windies are mediocre crap and until Sammy is ousted, the rebuilding will never happen....

The Test series against Pakistan will be an interesting one. I think Pakistan have a better team but they are a level below South Africa and England and I think the West Indies will be able to compete or even win the series. That would be a major step forward for the West Indies.

RE: WEST INDIES PROGRESS
Check this post from BallOil's forum:

=====================
Mapoui:
You seem to be captivated by the phrase
TINY PROGRESS. ;D
Listen! Check out the results posted by afro above---last 12 series the Windies have played:
Australia away= lost 2-0
SA at home= lost 2-0
SL away= drew 0-0
Pak at home= drew 1-1
India at home= lost 1-0
Bang away= won 1-0
India away= lost 2-0
Australia home= lost 2-0
England away= lost 2-0
NZ at home= won 2-0
Bang away= won 2-0
Zim at home= winning 1-0 thus far
Did you see that Mapoui ?
LITTLE PROGRESS OR TINY PROGRESS IS STILL PROGRESS.
READ CAREFULLY MAPPY:
Under Captain Sammy we see a West Indies team that is progressing slowly but surely----they are working together----we see good effort from the players---there is improved attitude---and the result is there for all the see---#7 ranked West Indies is dominating #8 New Zealand, #9 Bangladesh, and #10 Zimbabwe----in their last matchup with #6 Sri Lanka----that series was drawn----the true test of progress, however, will be the series against #5 Pakistan---that's when we will know if the West Indies can progress to being ranked #5 in tests..

What really is the progress?
NZ was stronger pre Sammy and I ask the question, bar the players strike, did the Windies lose against these teams?
Zim has not played Internationals for some time and yet they had Windies in a deep deal of trouble in their first innings.
You would expect Windies to totally dominate every session and they have not in winning the first game.
I cannot imagine any player looking up to Sammy as a tactician and sound with bat and ball.
I do not see any progress in the least.
