Today, Barbados stands proud as Kemar Roach enters rare and sacred company with his 300th Test wicket.
Only five West Indians have ever reached this mark, and Kemar now becomes the second Barbadian to do so, following in the footsteps of the great Malcolm Marshall. That alone tells you the height of the mountain he has climbed.
What moves me most is not only the number, but the journey. A young man from Barbados who took his chances, worked through pain, carried responsibility, adapted, endured, and still remained humble enough to thank those who helped him along the way.
Kemar, you have touched the hearts of so many of us. You have reminded every young cricketer that greatness is not always loud. Sometimes it is discipline, patience, courage and the quiet refusal to give up.
On behalf of the Government and people of Barbados, congratulations. You have made your country proud, and you continue to inspire generations yet to take the field.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
