Congratulations to Jason Mohammed on getting the selectors nod for his 20th season of First Class cricket for Trinidad and Tobago in his 40th year. He will enter the competition with 5480 runs the most by a Trinidadian and 17 centuries also the most by a Trini.
However I must question the point of his selection. He has been preferred ahead of younger promising players, Solozano, Webster Kamil Pooran and a few others.
Jason had his best first class tournament last year at age 39, scoring 4 centuries, 679 runs, ave 75.
Yet it was not enough to win the Championship.
He is not a test player, he has a first class batting ave of 32, nothing really to write home about, so why does he command a place on the team at age 39 ? First by coach David Furlong and now by coach Rayad Emrit the careers of young players are upended by the continued selection of what is really a cricketing dinosaur.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
