Former West Indies , Jamaica and Lancashire fast bowler Patrick Patterson .. I can remember back in 1991 i was playing for HawrKsidge & Cholesbury Cricket Club away at Old Challenors in Old Amersham at Barn Meadow . We had two West Indian brothers called Everit and Lincoln Baily originally from Jamaica but lived in West London . So they turned up to watch the game with former West Indies fast bowler Patrick Patterson. I could not believe it . Big unit Hard to understand with his Jamaican accent. I said to Patrick would he sign my Gray Nicolls Powerspot bat ? Which he did . I can remember.Alan Brown our back then club Secretary. . After the game Alan was giving me a lift back to Cholesbury and on the back seat of the car was a West Indies Cricket helmet . . I said to Alan who does that helmet belong to ? He said Patrick Patterson . I said why you got it Alan ? He said Evetit gave it to me to glue the plastic ear guard on the helmet . I said to Alan l can get that fixed for you . So the Monday morning i walked in to work at Flight Equipment at Ashridge Riad in Chesham making aircraft seats with strong glue .. i said to a guy calles Ted Ranch a foreman woyld he glue the ear guard back together ? Ted took it off me and got it glued black together . It didnt fit my head but i didnt want to givr it back also but i had tio .. Patrick Patterson was staying with Everit Baily while on tour with the West Indies . Everit knew many big names in the game. I heard Patrick Patterson fell on hard times and become a reclusive man and the forgotten man of Cricket and suffered from mental health. Big Patto was seriously quick . I wish Patrick Patterson all the best members ❤🏏
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
