The West Indies Under 19 team lost the opening game to South Africa Under 19 team but the West Indies also found a jewel in Jewel Andrew from Antigua and Barbuda. His class and composure were as prodigious as ever. This young man is just 17 years old but his talent has been evident for a long time. At 16 he was picked in the Leewards Seniour Team and played last year in the CWI Super 50 competition. I learned of the precocious lad when he came to Nevis a few years ago when he was about 14 and was dominating cricket against adults. As much as we should celebrate this knock, I wouldnt be surprised if there would be another hundred before this tournament is done. I want to give massive props to the Leeward Islands Cricket Board for picking him even at 16 and allowing him a platform to develop. I am to hope that they will allow other deserving youngsters a chance and that other regional boards will also follow suit. I am definitelty on the Jewel Andrew train.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
