FOO RETURNS TO BOOST ALBION IN IVAN MADRAY MEMORIAL T20 FINAL TOMORROW AT #69
FLAMBOYANT former West Indies ‘A’ Team batsman Jonathan Foo has returned to further boost a powerful Albion line-up, as the defending champions takes on Rose Hall Town Bakewell in the final of the 2023 Ivan Madray Memorial T20 First Division Cricket Competition, tomorrow, at the #69 Ground.
Foo, who has been plying his trade in different parts of the word, returned from an overseas engagement yesterday. He will not just add value to Albion with his batting but his underrated off-spin can also pose serious difficulties for his opponents.
With the two best first division teams in the Ancient County being on show, cricket fans in the Upper Corentyne areas can be in for a treat with several top Berbice, Guyana and former West Indies cricketers being in action.
Albion, led by Veerasammy Permaul, will field a team blended with experience and talented youths while Rose Hall Town Bakewell will be no different.
The talented Kevlon Anderson and his Guyana Amazon Warriors’ team mate Junior Sinclair will spearhead the Rose Hall Town’s batting with support coming from all-rounder Jonathan Rampersaud and Clinton Pestano. Wicketkeeper/batsman Jason Sinclair and Mathew Pottaya can also make valuable contributions with the bat.
Their bowling will be led by the highly touted paceman Stylus Tyndall, backed up by two others speedsters in that of Keyon Sinclair and Pestano. Former Guyana first class off-spinner Eon Hooper along with the off-spin of Rampersaud and the leg-spin of Potaya will take care of the spin department.
In addition to Foo, Albion on the other hand, will also have at their disposal the dangerous Anthony Bramble who is expected to open the batting with former Guyana Under 19 batsman Adrian Sukhwa, who also has the ability to be destructive in this shorten format of the game. The trio will be backed up by former West Indies Test and ODI’s opener Sewnarine Chattergoon along with all-rounders Permaul and Devendra Bishoo.
The Cecil brother Damion and Leon along with the exciting Afraz Budhoo, all of whom have been very consistent with the bat throughout the tournament will provide support.
Albion’s bowling, led by test spinners Permaul and Bishoo, will also include Berbice Senior Inter-County left-arm-spinner Kelvin Omroe and Gourav Ramesh, with support coming in the form of off-spin from Foo, Leon Cecil and Budhoo.
Play starts at 11:00h sharp.
The Albion team will be wearing black armbands in memory of the late Harrienarne Chattergoon and Javid Mohamed, both former Albion, Berbice and Guyana youth cricketers who died tragically, following a road accident, earlier this week.
