The 10th season of the Caribbean Premier League will launch with a T10 tournament named 'The 6ixty' which organisers hope will become a quarterly event that can be staged around the region and beyond.
The inaugural season will take place from August 24 to 28 in St Kitts, immediately before the CPL season, and will feature matches between all six men's franchises and the three women's teams, with squads expected to be at 85% strength.

The format is predominantly a T10 competition but features several notable differences:
Each batting team has six wickets, rather than ten
Batting teams can 'unlock' a floating third powerplay over by hitting two sixes in the initial two-over powerplay
Teams will bowl five consecutive overs from each end, rather than switching ends after each over
If teams fail to bowl their 10 overs within 45 minutes, a fielder will be removed for the final six balls
Fans will be able to vote for a 'mystery free hit' via an app or website

It's so insulting that they constantly say it's "for new fans". If you can't appreciate the beauty of a Test match without getting bored, find another sport.

So it's a T10 format with a few gimmicks? It sounds harmless if it was going to be done as a short tournament for TV money. Problem is, once you get below a certain number of overs, it feels like the winners are playing for a slab of beer.

How about a 25 ball tournament, 5 overs of 5 balls, only the wicket keeper can stand outside the circle in the 1st 2 overs. All bowlers have to bowl with their wrong arm, batmens play with a chopstick, and a member of the crowd has to face the next ball if there's a dot ball. FFS what next

Not radical enough.
Every time a boundary is hit, all players born on an odd date have to hop on one leg until the next ball is bowled. If its a dot ball, same applies to all players born on an even date.

Like the Blundred. A gimmick's gimmick. A meta-gimmick. And people thought Allen Stanford was bad!
It'll degenerate into rounders [baseball] soon. I despair.

Just like all gimmicks the novelty factor will wore off real fast and this version of 'cricket' will die a quick death.

Why does everything have to be in the favour of the batsman?
Why not have:
A bowling power play, one over where the bowler gets unlimited bouncers and is allowed two beamers as well.
A fan voted super ball, umpires only tell fielding team when it is, bowler can bowl from 15 yards rather than 22
Bowling team get a new ball, old ball, ancient ball. Bowler can pick any 1 for each ball, secretly.

Let’s also include:
Blindfolded batsman - The bowling team get to pick one batsman who is blindfolded for their entire innings.
The double ball, ball - One ball an innings where the batsman faces two bowlers, at the same time.
Non-Stop over - 6 bowlers line up and start their run up as soon as the bowler in front of them releases the ball.
