One swallow, it is true, does not a summer make; this one victory - even given its truly historic nature- might not mean that turnaround most of us so much desire for our cricket.
But this is a very, very Important point made by Mr. Simmons as he was interviewed after the momentous victory. The much maligned Simmons - I wonder if he will be given any credit by his maligners? - understandably must feel very proud. Interesting, too, the high praise he gives to the work of the Batting Coach, Monty Desai - the much maligned Monty Desai - I wonder if Desai will be given any credit by his maligners?
Cameron maligners of West Indies cricket who have refused to acknowledge any thing good since their Patron Miscreant was booted out of office in March 2019 - I wonder how they will speak of this victory and try to diminish what must be, unarguably, the high point of the present administration up to this point. We know they will give it their best dampening effort … right after they get their instructions from Kingston.
I celebrate this wonderful victory with our lads, the coaches, the officials, the current administration, and all true West Indies Cricket Fans. And I am happy to learn the culture and attitude are changing. This does not mean we will win every game, and that every day we will cover ourselves in glory - but let this victory inspire us always to have that self-belief, that never-say-die mindset, and always to fight valiantly to the very end. This will put us a great way on the road to get our cricket back to the top!
