That ICC ODI World Cup final is a study in paradoxes. England won the world cup without winning the match. New Zealand lost the world cup without losing the match. England were awarded the world cup because they hit two boundaries in the superover, compared to New Zealand's single boundary but no consideration was given to the fact while England hit two fours, the Kiwis hit a six. And England ties the match because of an umpire mistake..not a mistake but an oversight whereby the rules were incorrectly applied and England were awarded six runs including four overthrows for a delivery when, in fact, it should have bene five runs. Had the rules been correctly applied England would not have tied the Kiwis score and would have lost. And ICC says its satisfied with match and the result! Now that boggles the mind!
