Sir Viv happy with Bravo's return

Sir Vi­vian Richards says he is very hap­py to see the re­turn of T&T bats­man Dar­ren Bra­vo on the West In­dies team and he's ex­pect­ing good things from him.

Richards watched Bra­vo's in­nings of 50 runs against Eng­land in the sec­ond Wis­den Test at the Sir Viv Richards Ground in An­tigua. Speak­ing af­ter Bra­vo's knock Richards said: "I'm re­al­ly hap­py to see him back, he's a class act. I know he had his prob­lems with the board but it's good to see him back. We need to uti­lize our best tal­ent and I al­ways felt that over the years he did well un­der pres­sure. His re­turn is good for the bat­ting unit."

Bra­vo's ca­reer took off around the same time as the likes of Vi­rat Kohli, Joe Root and Steven Smith but their stats are more im­pres­sive than this at present.

Richards said: "We have to re­mem­ber that he played on a team that was on the de­fen­sive most times and he was put un­der a lot of pres­sure. Look at his bat­ting in this Test match, that in­nings turned out to be valu­able. He was able to wear the Eng­lish bowlers down. He is grad­u­al­ly mak­ing his way back and if he gets go­ing he will be a great ad­di­tion to this West In­dies bat­ting unit."

Bra­vo's top score of 50, took the Windies to 308 in re­sponse to Eng­land's 187 and this paved the way for the home team to reg­is­ter a mas­sive 10-wick­et win and se­ries vic­to­ry as well. His knock was the slow­est half-cen­tu­ry in Tests in terms of min­utes 359.

Het­my­er - the 'Dare­dev­il'

The Mas­ter Blaster said he was al­so very im­pressed with Guyana bats­man Shim­ron Het­my­er. "I like his style, love his in­tent there will be times that we will love him and hate him be­cause he is a dare­dev­il. He rep­re­sents what the re­al flair of West In­dies bat­ting should be like.

"The more ex­pe­ri­ence he gets he will be­come much bet­ter be­cause there is cer­tain­ly a lot of tal­ent there. He just needs to con­tin­ue learn­ing and har­ness­ing that tal­ent and what a play­er he will be."
