Sir Vivian Richards says he is very happy to see the return of T&T batsman Darren Bravo on the West Indies team and he's expecting good things from him.
Richards watched Bravo's innings of 50 runs against England in the second Wisden Test at the Sir Viv Richards Ground in Antigua. Speaking after Bravo's knock Richards said: "I'm really happy to see him back, he's a class act. I know he had his problems with the board but it's good to see him back. We need to utilize our best talent and I always felt that over the years he did well under pressure. His return is good for the batting unit."
Bravo's career took off around the same time as the likes of Virat Kohli, Joe Root and Steven Smith but their stats are more impressive than this at present.
Richards said: "We have to remember that he played on a team that was on the defensive most times and he was put under a lot of pressure. Look at his batting in this Test match, that innings turned out to be valuable. He was able to wear the English bowlers down. He is gradually making his way back and if he gets going he will be a great addition to this West Indies batting unit."
Bravo's top score of 50, took the Windies to 308 in response to England's 187 and this paved the way for the home team to register a massive 10-wicket win and series victory as well. His knock was the slowest half-century in Tests in terms of minutes 359.
Hetmyer - the 'Daredevil'
The Master Blaster said he was also very impressed with Guyana batsman Shimron Hetmyer. "I like his style, love his intent there will be times that we will love him and hate him because he is a daredevil. He represents what the real flair of West Indies batting should be like.
"The more experience he gets he will become much better because there is certainly a lot of talent there. He just needs to continue learning and harnessing that talent and what a player he will be."
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
