The last 10 times Joe Root has reached fifty, he's failed to go on and score a century.

His last hundred was against West Indies in the day/night Test here last year.

Adil Rashid plays a fairly nervy clip in the air but it's wide of mid-wicket and he picks up two.

That's 250 up for the hosts. About four more wickets down than they looked like being at this point though.

India have had a nice balance when bowling to Sam Curran. The seamers have hung the ball out wide, whilst Ashwin attacks his stump. They're playing on his patience, given that Curran averages 78.50 with the cut shot in FC cricket, and won't leave it alone for long.
