‘We need to be smart’

Bangladesh stand-in T20 skipper Mahmudullah Riyad has admitted that they don’t have power hitters in their team like West Indies or England have. Since they are lack of big hitting batsmen like Chris Gayle or Kieren Pollard, Mahmdullah says they have to be smart to win matches in T20Is.

“We need to be smart, the skills are there but we need to be smart to take those calculated risks – from taking on a particular bowler and whoever thinks can take him on, should go for it,” Mahmudullah said while talking to the reporters on Tuesday.

Bangladesh had been going through a tough time before starting the ongoing Nidahas Trophy as they were winless since January 23. However, Mahmudullah says they planned to create their own brand in international cricket before the start of the series.

“There needs to be good communication between every batsman. This will lead us to create our own brand. We don’t have those kind of power-hitters and we acknowledge that fact. When we started this tour, we planned of creating this Bangladeshi brand of cricket,” Mahmudullah revealed.

To be noted, Bangladesh will play their third match in the Nidahas Trophy on Wednsday against India.
