Pakistan former captain Shahid Afridi has expressed his desire to play an international match at Lord’s on May 31, where West Indies will take on a Rest of the World XI in a fundraiser T20 game.
International Cricket Council has granted the match international status and the funds generated will be used for restoration of cricket grounds in the Caribbean.
“I don’t have details about the match but if there is an offer, I will consider it,” Wisden India quoted Afridi.
Afridi hung up boots from international cricket in 2016, after he last represented Pakistan in a T20 match against Australia.
Meanwhile, Boom Boom Afridi has been a regular feature in various domestic leagues. For the moment, the former captain is gearing up for the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he will be representing the Karachi Kings franchise, after parting ways with Peshawar Zalmi.
“The last couple of seasons in the leagues have been good for me. Sometimes I go months without cricket, therefore before an event, I have to put in the extra yards to get myself ready for cricket.
“I have started to practice for the PSL. I have reduced my other activities and am focusing more on the PSL. Hopefully, the upcoming season will be good for me,” said Afridi.
The PSL season 3 will kick off from February 22, with a match between defending champions Peshawar Zalmi and debutants Multan Sultans.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
