Lasith Malinga acknowledged his time as a player in the Indian Premier League is over and expressed a desire to move on. Malinga has struggled because of several injuries and that has impacted his performances in international cricket. His declining bowling stocks has also coincided with Sri Lanka's dwindling fortunes.

I think Lasith Malinga put everything he had into his cricket game and now was probably a good time to hang it up and get into coaching. He played 10 years for the Mumbai Indians, but I guess the future of the franchise did not include Lasith.
