Sri Lanka beat the West Indies by three wickets to secure the plate title at the International Cricket Council Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand.
A double century opening stand from batsmen Hasitha Boyagoda and Dhananjaya Lakshan set the platform for victory as they went in pursuit of the West Indies' total of 254-5 from their 50 overs at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Christchurch
But a Sri Lankan collapse gave the West Indies hope of an unlikely turnaround before they recovered to reach their target with two balls to spare.
"We kept them under 260 and after that we put on a big partnership so that we could win easily," Sri Lanka captain Kamindu Mendis said.
"Unfortunately, our middle-order batsmen fell very quickly because I think we relaxed a bit. It became a very tight situation but we managed it well in the end."
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
