New Zealand have recalled opening batsman Martin Guptill for the first two One-Day Internationals against Pakistan to be played in January.
The 31-year-old missed the One-Day International series against West Indies due to a hamstring injury but did manage to return for the ongoing Twenty20 International series against the same opposition.
Guptill has taken the place of George Worker in the 13-man-squad which came as a surprise considering the latter scored two half-centuries from three games against West Indies.
National selector Gavin Larsen felt sorry for Worker but insisted that the presence of Guptill and Colin Munro at the top will be a big booster to the side.
"It's tough on George missing out, but he'll continue to push for selection and will get further opportunities down the road," he said.
"Martin is a proven world-class player, so we're naturally thrilled to have him back in the mix. He and Colin (Munro) have been strong for us at the top of the order."
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
