“He [Windies bowling coach Roderick Estwick] is supposed to have the know-how and the technical knowledge as to how to get these guys and correct them and these guys [players] would have been through that particular department for quite some time to try and rectify all that,” Sir Viv told the Observer newspaper here.

“Here now he goes on tour and he is reported and especially around individuals who would have been given the responsibility to make sure that this guy; all is fine with him and that’s why he is on tour; so somebody dropped the ball somewhere guys.”

allyuh with these arguments again. what can any coach do at that stage..nutten! estwick will talk himself blue it wont make no difference. its way too late for any basic change to take place in players up at the test/international level
all the coaches do at the top level is to ride the fat hog and feed..then hone a million palliatives for the media to ease off all the frustration among the fans.
how long deh deh now..Radford, estwick, Law etc.? years and years in the case of Radford in particular. and the man still have excuses/palliatives coming out of his larder that sound new and fresh after so many years. he prolly have a million more unused..that he can dial up to meet any situation that arises
coaching at the test level is a gravy train..unprecedented for whoever get the jobs. who would have guessed that such a fat source of wealth would have opened for old players.
by the time a player reaches test level he should be a finished product, developed and ready to go. if he is not forget it..move on to others. at test level you only need spot coaching if any at all..like if a niggle in technique arises0 and a player needs a bit of assistance to work it out.
then you call up the coach he wants to help him out..to work it through. but no coaches are needed at the test level.on a permanent basis. that is one huge ridiculous and unnecessary comes' deh..at high cost to the game.
what you need deh are physios, media men/women, and audio visual people to deal with films to watch and analyze. you need an all powerful captain as in former times and a manager. and send the coaches where they are/may be really needed..down to the grassroots
