Jeet Raval scored a brilliant 169 run knock as New Zealand XI chased down 289 runs in the 49th over with six wickets in hand in the tour game against West Indies at Eden Park in Auckland.
West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first. Kyle Hope (94) and Evin Lewis (17) gave a brisk opening stand of 42 runs from 43 deliveries before the latter was dismissed.
Both Kyle and Shai Hope (69) resurrected the innings with a 138 run stand for the second wicket and both the batsmen went past their respective fifties. Shai scored at a strikerate close to 120 and had eight boundaries and a six in it during his 58-ball knock.
Shimron Hetmyer (28) played a blistering 17 ball cameo to up the ante and with Kyle also retired out on 94, West Indies struggled to finish the innings well as the lower and middle order hardly contributed except for Rovman Powell (31) and were bowled out for 288 runs in 48.4 overs.
Aniket Parikh (4-47) was the pick of the New Zealand XI bowlers with a four wicket haul to his name.
In the chase Raval (169) took it upon himself as Jack Boyle (22) was slow to settle at the other end. The duo added 77 runs off 101 deliveries to lay a solid platform with Raval being the major contributor.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
