Daniel Bell-Drummond is becoming a rare case, though he might do well to go over to the Caribbean where his parents are from to play domestic cricket then play for the West Indies or at least the choice to choose as he only plays English Domestic Cricket. Jofra Archer could play for the West Indies as England have too many option in that position and Chris Jordan is proof of why choosing your own country is important as he could have been a Genuine All-rounder for the West Indies had he have played regional cricket in 2013/14 in the West Indies.
Not many caribbean kids play cricket as their dads in the 1980's and early 90's if they are 80's born would encourage them to play football rather than take them to watch them train in the nets or play cricket. I'd love to see more West Africans play I know there is much made of Rwanda investing in cricket, though a mention for Nigeria as they are investing more in cricket.
I would have like to have seen Keith Barker playing in the Regional 4 day Caribbean league then play for West Indies as he could definitely get into this side as a all rounder. More Africans playing would strengthen Africa as a cricket continent (forget South Africa as its European run). I'm hoping Zim can get to some glory with a team which matches the demography of the country (more Blacks than Africans in the team).

Chris Jordan probably made the right decision... in that someone not quite international class can make a good lucrative career playing county cricket in England but can't in the caribbean. If was a certain super star then the West Indies may have been his preferred destination. Its for this reason England county cricket is poaching South African and a few caribbean players.

as opposed to Gordon Greenidge : whom learned all his batting technique in England school system
and preferred to play for west indies !
partnership with local Dessie Haynes is now stuff of opening pair legends !

I can see what your saying, though he could have played both as he could play county cricket for part of the year and regional caribbean for the other part. The west Indies dont have a player like him in their 4 day competition or Test Squad. I feel he was under used by England. Its all in the past, though Jofra Archer would do well to heed such a lesson (since England have plenty of fast bowlers).

Kolpak now inhibits caribbean players training ground
Jofra in those swing and reverse condition will be a handful
but he has to play 4RD to qualify for selection .
no exemptions according to CWI
