The selectors, even in cricket West Indies, used to be men who played the game, and played it well; men who knew the game, who can spot talent, whose judgement is first-class, whose integrity is flawless, who can be depended on to make right and proper decisions, who will make them, regardless, and men who are respected.

Currently, the selection of the West Indies cricket team appears to be a mess, and it appears that the talk says that the present state of West Indies cricket and the reason for its long stay in the wilderness is due to poor team selection as much as it is the fault of the board and the players.

That is the simple truth as it gets !
cWI not paying attention to the regional Pitches
No scouts in the region to unearth talent
Selectors are insular and insist on their home boys selections
We will soon be #10 of 10

develop the Pitches for bounce and swing : pace men
and to giv Spinners a chance to use the rot from the pace men feet.
Batsmen will improve their bat and pad close together tekneek
when to go back and across , when to stay on the front ,when to Leave
this is a basic cWI requirement or talent development.

Instead of sitting in an Ivory Tower at Factory Rd., Antigua
go out to the islands and Guyana countryside
Look for talent in those club matches
when the sugar estate hired Clyde Walcott, he found:
Rohan Kanhai, Basil Butcher, Joe Soloman et al
in the remotest part of Berbice, Guyana.
Lets do it again : lots of mosquitoes and no 5 star hotel

the england tour improvement, was due to five men only - two batsmen, two bowlers, and one all-rounder - out of 16 players, and in less than two weeks after that, the selectors surprisingly picked the same 16 players to tour Zimbabwe, including those who failed, and failed miserably.

Apart from Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope, Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel, and Jason Holder in the Test matches, and Alzarri Joseph in one ODI match, the West Indians were all disappointing.

Browne certainly could not have been talking about players like Kyle Hope, who averaged 6.83 after three Test matches and six innings; or Shane Dorwich, who, despite his early promise, performed poorly behind the wicket and averaged 4.80 with the bat
