WEST Indies batsman Chris Gayle is among those missing out on the ICC Champions Trophy, but still managed to be in the thick of things after mercilessly mocking England following their surprise loss to Pakistan on Wednesday.
England’s hopes of a first title came crashing down in Cardiff as Pakistan cruised to an eight-wicket semi-final win. The hosts had been strong favourites to claim the elusive Champions Trophy crown but once again fluffed their lines when it mattered most, and Gayle was among those quick to notice.
“Oops! England did it again,†the big left-hander posted via his official Instagram account, a clear reference to the country’s sporting reputation for not delivering on the big occasion.
Put in to bat England were bundled out for 211 inside of 50 overs, with Pakistan fast bowlers Hasan Ali (3/35), Junaid Khan (2/42) and Rumman Raees (2/44) doing most of the damage.
In reply Pakistan got off to a great start with openers Azhar Ali (76) and Fakhar Zaman (57) adding 118 runs after which Babar Azam (38) and Mohammad Hafeez (31) guided the team home with almost 13 overs to spare.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
