England bowled well but the surprise package was Jake Ball. His first three overs yielded just a run and he finished with figures of 2/31 in 8 overs. Plunkett finished with 4 scalps while Rashid chipped in with 2 wickets.

In today's day and age, a target of 311 should not make one sweat but England defended their score pretty well. They got Ronchi early but then Williamson and Guptill got set in the middle. At the halfway stage, the Black Caps were looking in great shape but Williamson's wicket turned the tide as they lost 8/65 in 86 balls. The skipper was the lone warrior, being the highest scorer amongst both teams.
