Andrew Tye’s Indian Premier League season is over after dislocating his shoulder in Gujarat Lions’ thrilling Super Over loss to Mumbai Indians on Saturday.
In an incident reminiscent of the injury suffered by countryman Chris Lynn earlier in the tournament, Tye appeared to be in serious pain after falling on his shoulder diving for a ball in the field.
With Mumbai at 2-82 chasing of the hosts’ 153, Parthiv Patel struck one to Tye’s right at deep mid-wicket.
The fast-bowler made good ground in pursuit of the firmly hit stroke, managing to get his right hand on to the ball as he dived forward in his attempt to save a boundary.
But as the ball rolled away for four, Tye clutched his left shoulder and appeared to be in severe discomfort.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
