Considering his opportunities came from South Africa, there is no surprise he feels grateful, after all if it wasn't for that country, he would have never made it to success.

Even I thinks the same. As he get the opportunity from South Africa no wonder he is close to them and want to do many things for them. I haven't seen him playing since long may be I missed the matches. Though in IPL he is doing fine.

There are quite a few players that for some reason are not recognized in their own country, they need to go to a foreign country to give a jump start to their career, and obviously they become grateful to the country where that happened, it's just natural.
