The WICB'S policy to exclude players who play internationally needs to be re-examined. The West Indian foundation of success of the past era was based on the "Greats" sharpening their skills on the international circuit. The question remains why omit the present West Indian players from series who have increased their skills when playing cricket against formidable opponents internationally. The former West Indian Greats were themselves all rooted in International English County Cricket, the list looks like this: Gary Sobers (Nottinghamshire) Gordon Greenidge (Hampshire), Desmond Haynes (Middlesex), Roy Fedricks (Glamorgan),Vivian Richards (Somerset), Alvin Kallicharran (Warwickshire), Rohan Kanhai (Warwichshire), Clive Lloyd(Lancashire), Richie Richardson (Yorkshire), Larry Gomes (Middlesex), Deryck Murray (Warwickshire), Michael Holding (Derbyshire/Lancashire), Joel Garner (Somerset), Andy Roberts (Hampshire), Malcolm Marshall(Hampshire) Courtney Walsh (Gloucestershire)
